"I get to experience the World'

The latest news from our Missionary
This is the beginning statement of one of her e-mails:
Being stuck wasn't even that bad! I got my journal updated and my desk organized :) and yea we were all stuck indoors through the whole mission. because some missionaries in other areas were walking through high rain water flooding and got electrocuted :p
So if you know me, you can imagine what I was thinking, then she quickly came back in another email and said:
don't worry they are fine now!, I know haha :) but don't worry i promise not to walk through any flooded areas
I am so glad that she cleared that up, and quick.
Then she spoke about learning the language: The Tagalog is improving every day thank goodness! :) me and my companion are really pushing ourselves to learn ASAP! I can't wait until i can speak fluently! :)

Here are a couple of pictures that she sent:
Adorable picture

I'm sure that Hope and her companion stick out like sore thumbs in
this part of the world.

That is about it for this week, I would like to finish this weeks blog with something that she said:
Yea I do get to experience the world first hand haha. I want to bring you and Dad to here and show you all around, you would just love it, and the people.

UNTIL NEXT WEEK~~~ Thanks for following this blog!

Halo halo

Good Morning to you all, I heard from our missionary last night, remember that she is 14 hours ahead of us, so if it is 10:00 p.m. here at home, then it is 12:00 noon where she is. She sounds like she is doing wonderfully! This is what she wrote last night, and she sent a lot of pictures so this week is pictures week.
Wow the first day of school :) They look absolutely stunning :) Crazy how much they have changed in appearance in just like 4 months :p I am doing great. It hasn't stopped raining in the last 4 days, so everything is flooded but I love it because it is just so awesome to see it! But i am sad for all the members and investigators whose houses are flooding. Yesterday at church there were only 30 people :( But I got a new companion her YEP an AMERICAN!!!! And actually it is very good we really push each other to speak Tagalog so in 12 weeks we are going to improve a lot! :) She is from California and we get along great. Sister S. also got and Americana so there are 3 Americans living in the apartment and poor sister S.(the local girl) who helps us all improve our Tagalog but it has been a lot of fun and it has only been like 4 days but it is very exciting :) our first lessons yesterday went really good even though we don't speak very well. but the  people are so nice they help us and try to understand what we are saying :) so yesterday something really cool happened. we were running late to the the branch presidents house and so we were walking down the street (sticking out like a sore thumb, 2 tall Americans) and some guy approached us and was like i want to be like you how do i be like you and we were like come to church and he was like come and teach me and so yea we met some random guy in the street and then when we finally got a tricy he drove us like 1.5 miles which is like a 20-30 peso ride. but when we went to pay him he was like no sisters this is for free. and then we talked to him and invited him to church :) it was amazing :) that is definitely the upside of having 2 Americans here everyone wants to talk to us :)

she looks so happy

Halo halo

Trying a dessert called halo halo
she looks scared!

Flooding just outside of her apartment, she said that it's been raining for 4 days straight in Vigan.

Hope also wrote this in her email:
So I met one of the new missionaries she is from Cedar City too! she looked so familiar. if i didn't pack up my yearbooks look in my 7th grade one ( the one with all the faces) and see if she is in it.
also could you listen to my i pod to make sure that it is still working and then put it back into hiding.
OK so my medical ID band is ripping so could you go onto that sight and try to just order the band? And then she wrote this: Thank you so much! sorry if you felt like that was a list of orders! I want you to know how grateful I am for you, I love you soooo much!
IT was pretty delicious, (halo halo) it had lots of fruit in it :) haha i don't even wanna know what else....
Yes pink will be great! (the medical ID band).
Then in my email I wrote to her this: Just make sure that you are obedient to the mission rules and she wrote back with this: if I'm gonna learn Tagalog faster than the speed of sound  I need to be exactly obedient! :)
This is how she finished her email: Gonna go stuff face at Jollibee :) Love you so much :) I'm sending you a letter today so in 10 days look out. its weird sorry, i ran out of time so it jumps around alot well love you love you! hug Jenny and Mav (OUR PUGS) for me every night! tell everyone i say hello and give everyone my love!

Well our girl is doing what she is supposed to be doing! Thanks for following this blog! It is so appreciated!
Until Next Time: God Bless

Living the missionary life and loving it!

Good Morning everyone! Thank-you all so much for your prayers this week for Hope, Our family is truly thankful to all of you.
So I heard from our missionary last night, she got on a little later than usual  and this is why: Sorry we had a typhoon so we couldn't leave :( but its all good now just rainy. Then later in her email she said this: Nope I didn't get transferred but my companion and anopther sister did. we all go to the mission home on Wednesday and get our new companions. I am feeling fine just recovering from a cold, I can't believe I got a cold in this hot hot place :p I didn't get dengue don't worry. I did get a package this week with fruit rolls, pictures and shirts and wet wipes. Thank you summer games :) I also got mail too, I haven't read them all but I'll be sending a letter next week answering all of them so don't worry.
She also said this: My week has gone good, nothing new except I'm training again. I'll send you a letter with more information, and its easier then trying to remember all that has happened this week :p Church was good, the 2 future missionaries spoke and they did good, even though I didn't understand what they said cause they were speaking in Ilokano :p At the moment I don't think I need anything, but Thank you :)

So, she didn't get transferred, I really thought that she was going to, but the Lord needs her in her area. I just pray that her new companion is a good match for her, and that they get busy doing the Lord's work. I know she likes to stay busy. Oh we got another letter from her this week, and a post card, I will copy and paste the postcard here everyone can see it.

I love the part when she says "I am doing great just living the missionary life and loving it!

Well, that is about it for this week, just thankful that she didn't get Dengue, I look forward to hearing from her next week to find out who her new companion is and about the new investigators that they have.
Thanks to all of our readers for following this blog.
Until Next Week, May God Bless you all!

Dengue Fever (Prayers Needed)

So, I heard from our missionary and she informed of this: Hmmmm lets see. I am pretty sure I am going to get Dengue because the stupid mosquito with black and white striped legs bit me 4 times.... but no symptoms for that yet. and its been like 5 days oh but i do have a cold and it is not fun to be sick! ugh. sorry that wasn't very uplifting. sister crook fell down the stairs today after i mopped them whoops! so we are probably getting 2 more sister added to Vigan so i may be getting transferred next week but i hope not! Ok i will add pics of the pics i took this week. and maybe my mind will be reminded. i did write you a funny story that I'm sending haha : So I looked it up and it said this:
Dengue is transmitted by several species of mosquito within the genus Aedes, principally A. aegypti. The virus has four different types; infection with one type usually gives lifelong immunity to that type, but only short-term immunity to the others. Subsequent infection with a different type increases the risk of severe complications. As there is no commercially available vaccine, prevention is sought by reducing the habitat and the number of mosquitoes and limiting exposure to bites.Dengue fever (UK /ˈdɛŋɡ/ or US /ˈdɛŋɡ/), also known as breakbone fever, is an infectious tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms include feverheadachemuscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash that is similar to measles. In a small proportion of cases the disease develops into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever, resulting in bleedinglow levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or into dengue shock syndrome, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs.
Treatment of acute dengue is supportive, using either oral or intravenous rehydration for mild or moderate disease, and intravenous fluids and blood transfusion for more severe cases. The incidence of dengue fever has increased dramatically since the 1960s, with around 50–100 million people infected yearly. Early descriptions of the condition date from 1779, and its viral cause and the transmission were elucidated in the early 20th century. Dengue has become a global problem since the Second World War and is endemic in more than 110 countries. Apart from eliminating the mosquitoes, work is ongoing on a vaccine, as well as medication targeted directly at the virus.

Hope assures me that she is feeling fine as of yesterday! But you know me, I just worry about my baby girl! Heck I am a Mother, what can I say?

She said that she had a quiet week, and there is rumor that she may be getting transferred to another area next Monday, she said if I don't hear from her, that is why.

She sent some more pictures: here they are...
She was at a members dress shop, and helped hang clothes because she is the tallest one of the bunch.
The Blue Pj's are hers, this is their wash room
 Laundry drying
At the South China Sea, this will probably be one of the last times for a long time until she gets to go back to the sea, the Elder Couple are leaving the mission this week for home, and that is usually who takes the Sister Missionaries to this area, because the tricy's don't go that far.

At the south China Sea!

Birthday Celebration.
July 28, 2013
Both her and her companion share the same Birthday!
The little boy in this picture is adorable!

Well Folks, that is about it for the week, I hope that you like the pictures that were posted this week, and please remember to pray that Hope doesn't get sick from those mosquito's.
Thanks to all of our readers, I pray that you all have a safe and happy week.
Until Next Time....
